Eric, the owner of Provence en Couleur was inspired by a gift idea he had seen in stores in Provence. His budget was sparse and he wanted a printed package design that he could print and put together himself. The purpose was to be able to mail a small sample of lavender as a souvenir straight from his lavender suppliers in France.
I designed and prototyped the package to ensure that the traditional postage border matched perfectly when assembled by hand. This was accomplished without the aid of a preset template that CPG companies usually provide.
I preferred the more embellished designs in yellow and purple, but Eric preferred a simple aesthetic, as per the final designs.
