Abstract portrait in acrylic resin

I recently discovered resin after staying with my artsy fartsy friend in Hong Kong. He and his girlfriend were using small silicone molds filled with resin to capture the beauty of natural found elements. I began using resin for the first time to complete a recent commission. I created two versions of the same abstract portrait, one as a background layer, the other as a contrast layer to put over top. I used tracing paper and faber castell pencil crayons diluted and painted with isopropyl to create the images. I'll be exploring this medium using custom made silicon molds to create frameless layered artpieces akin to stained glass windows. Stay tuned!
